Staff Contributor: Julie Westby, Youth Services Librarian
Hedberg Public Library is proud to be part of the Janesville Early Literacy Program, a community group that works to engage the entire community in preparing children from birth to age five to succeed in school and life by empowering families to read, talk, and play together every day.
The Janesville Early Literacy Program in partnership with the Stateline Community Foundation’s Literacy for Life has created the Read, Talk, Play Every Day website, along with Facebook and Instagram pages, to provide parents and caregivers resources that help build a strong foundation for their children. And if you look closely, you'll see some familiar faces in even more familiar spaces! The Children's Room was a location for filming - and one of our Youth Services librarians can be seen reading to her very own little girl! (That's her family in the featured image above.)
Read, Talk, Play Every Day offers:
- Developmental milestones and tips.
- Information on The Basics Insights early literacy text messaging program, free to all Rock County residents.
- A calendar of events across Rock County for children and families and including Hedberg and Beloit Public Library storytimes. Subscribe to the calendar to stay up to date on events.
- Monthly newsletters with tips, early learning facts, activity ideas, and Rock County events. Subscribe to the monthly newsletter to receive this information automatically.
