December is an exciting first for the HPL Art Exhibits. One of this month's artists is the creator of the Meet the Artist program done by JATV. Now he is one of our featured artists and was interviewed. Things have come full circle for him.
Duane Brewer began his adventure in the arts with photography and videography in the 1980s. In the late 1990s, he created the Meet the Artist program produced by JATV. When it first began, the program was recorded in the home of each artist. To go back to those roots of the program he developed, Meet the Artist: December 2025 with Duane Brewer was filmed at his home. Be sure to also take the time to read the poems and stories Duane has included with each of his pieces.
Judy Hatlen started her journey as an artist as a young child who was encouraged by her mom to draw stick people. Judy now uses acrylics, pencil drawings, and digital paint to create images of landscapes and wildlife. According to Judy, “Everyone needs a peaceful haven where they can renew their energy and nourish their soul. My artwork is meant to help create that.” Learn more about Judy, her artwork, and other places to see her work by watching Meet the Artist: December 2025 with Judy Hatlen.
Art is available for viewing during regular library hours. Viewers are encouraged to leave written comments for the artists in the binder located in the Fireplace Room. Special thanks to Teresa Nguyen, Kelly Hausknecht, and JATV Media Services for the Meet the Artist interviews that let us learn more about the artists and their inspirations.
