Little Free Lab 316

You may have heard of a Little Free Library before, but now we have Little Free Lab 316

Little Free Lab 316 (or Little Lab) is now a feature in the library's makerspace Lab 316. On the shelves you'll find a variety of featured crafts, craft supplies, and swap bins.

Swap Bins

The swap bins are a way for crafters in the community to donate materials they no longer need to other crafters who can use them! This is an extension of the Craft Swap programs that we have had in the past, but now they can happen all year long. Patrons are welcome to leave clean, usable craft supplies in the bins on the bottom shelf. All supplies must fit in the designated bins. If the bins are full, we ask that patrons hold on to their supplies and donate them another time. Other crafters are welcome to take home supplies from the bottom shelves and use on their own projects!

Craft Supplies

The other shelves hold supplies that can be used at any time in the library's makerspace area. This allows for spontaneous creation and access to materials.

We'll be featuring projects that can be done on one's own on a rotating basis. The featured projects will include examples, supplies to create with, as well as resources for learning more skills or creating other projects in the same medium. One month might feature cute crochet creatures, the next month might feature wild landscape watercolors, the possibilities are endless!

Before we could even officially announce the Little Lab, patrons have already found the materials, inspiration, and a great place to work in Lab 316. Give people a makerspace and they will make! Crafting and creating are a vital part of learning, self-expression, and creating community which is what the makerspace and the library are all about. We hope that the Little Lab helps provide access to materials, creates community, and fuels inspiration for many future projects.
