It Takes a Village: New Program for Breastfeeding Moms

Moms interested in learning about breastfeeding and pumping in community with other moms are invited to a new, monthly meet-up hosted by Rock County Nutrition & Health Associates (WIC) at Hedberg Public Library. Breastfeeding Village: Education and Community for New Moms meets in HPL's Program Room on the third Friday of each month from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

"We wanted to start this class for moms in Rock County who choose to breastfeed or moms who are indecisive about breastfeeding but wanted a safe place to learn about the topic," says Dezarae Pollard with Rock County Nutrition Health Associates.

As a breastfeeding mother herself, Pollard says she appreciates the opportunity this new program will provide to meet and learn from other local moms, while also offering support and encouragement to each other.

The team at Rock County Nutrition & Health Associates chose the library for its location and connection with the community. "Libraries are where people go to learn and meet others in their community who have a love for knowledge," she says. "We thought HPL was the perfect place to offer such an informative and intimate class."

The next meet-up is Friday, April 18. Registration is required with Rock County Nutrition & Health Associates by calling 608-754-3722.
