HPL Launches Reading Program for Teens

Hedberg Public Library's Teen Central is launching a new reading program, 100 Books Before Graduation, for teens in grades 9-12.

Under the new initiative, teens can read and log the books online via the Beanstack app to earn milestone prizes. They can also complete fun challenges to be entered into additional prize drawings, all with the goal of reading 100 books before they graduate and picking up a grand prize upon completion.

"We hope this challenge encourages teens to continue to read, not just for a grade or an assignment, but for the joy of it," says Gabrielle Draxler, HPL's Young Adult Librarian. "The milestones and challenges of this program offer different ways to explore reading, connect with others and their community, and learn to love reading enough to make it a lifelong habit."

The challenge is sponsored by the Friends of Hedberg Public Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
