You will learn the ins and outs of how to get your child qualified for special education and navigate the IEP (Individual Education Plan) process as a parent/guardian. Please join us for a panel discussion with a variety of perspectives in the special education world.
The panel will be hosted by Ana Kohout, a current elementary special education teacher in the School District of Beloit. As a wheelchair-user, Ana grew up with an IEP, giving her an insider perspective that she carries into her current work with children and parents. This experience fueled her desires to help others and she received her Masters in special education in 2022 from UW-Madison. The panel will consist of Ashley Hoff, Jean Meyers, and Sharon Straub. Ashley Hoff is currently a special education paraeducator in the school district of Beloit and a mother of a child with intellectual disabilities. Jean Meyers is a mother who has dedicated her life to advocating for her children, who have a variety of disabilities. Sharon Straub is a retired general education teacher in the school district of Beloit with a minor in special education and many years of experience working with students with disabilities.
