Hedberg@Home Materials Delivery
What is the Hedberg Public Library Materials Delivery Service?
The HPL Materials Delivery Service provides regular home delivery of library materials to patrons in Janesville who are unable to visit the library due to age, a temporary or permanent physical condition, or lack of transportation.
Who is eligible for this service?
Any Janesville resident who is unable to visit the library
and who lives in either an independent setting or in a
group residential facility without a rotating collection of materials can apply. The service is also available to caregivers whose responsibilities make
library visits difficult.
How does the program work?
Interested patrons or their caregivers should contact the library's extension services coordinator to discuss materials of interest and delivery schedules.
A special card is issued for use during the time the patron is registered with the program. Thepatron's own card cannot be used while the patron is in the program. Volunteers will select materials based on the number and type requested by the patron. These materials are checked out to the patron and delivered by the library volunteer.
Materials Delivery patrons may keep these materials until they are picked up by their volunteer. New materials are delivered when others are picked up.
There is no fee for this service.
What materials are loaned?
Materials Delivery patrons may borrow hardcover books, paperback books, large type books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs and music compact discs.
How often are materials delivered?
Pick-up/delivery is usually every four weeks. No fines are charged for overdue materials. However, charges will be assessed for lost or damaged items.
Materials Delivery patrons have the same renewal limits as other users except that new large type books may not be renewed.
How do I arrange for this service?
