Free Programs for Kids and Families

Family programs are geared to families with kids 12 and under.

Family Fun Night: A Night at the LIbrary-Bedtime Tales

Friday, January 15 at 7 p.m.
For families with kids age 12 and under
Ready for an evening of shadow-y adventures? Bring the family and join us for bedtime stories, shadow puppets and snacks. Pajamas and slippers recommended.
No registration necessary.

Awesome Activities: Leather Medallions
Saturday, February 6 at 1 p.m.

For kids in grades 3-5
Create and stamp your own design on a leather medallion to use as a key-chain
or backpack pull. Materials provided. Space is limited to 35. Registration is required,
call 758-6585 or stop by the Children’s Desk.

Monday, February 8 at 3:30 p.m.
For kids in K-5th grade
Learn how guide dogs are trained, how they help their owners in everyday life, and what to do when you encounter someone who is visually impaired. Presented by a visually impaired library patron. No registration necessary.

Sunday, February 14 from 1 - 4

For children ages 1-4 years - An adult caregiver must accompany children.
Drop in and join your child as he/she explores, discovers and learns through play.

Library Explorers: Live United-Project Linus
Monday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m.

For kids in K-5th grade
Learn how we help others in our community and make blanket squares
for Project Linus. No registration necessary.

Master the forces of flight and make a squadron of simple, yet incredible flying contraptions. Presented by staff from the Discovery Center Museum in Rockford. Space is limited to 35. Registration is required, call 758-6585 or stop by the Children’s Desk.

Just one rule to remember: tough and light make a better kite. We’ll explore different materials and shapes to make a “tough” kite that is light enough to actually fly! No registration necessary.
